I've been fiddling with the idea to add custom fields to my content objects for some time. Sometimes content items should consist of preset fields, header images that needs to adhere to a certain position, ie OVER the header, etc - with minimum need for client f*ckups.

Today we will learn how to add more columns/fields to Joomla *_content table. At first we should have to add a column in *_content table.
Run in for instance phpMyAdmin.

JP Genesis: Free Joomla 1.6 Template

Now that Joomla 1.6 Beta 4 has been released, joomlapraise.com migrated Genesis, which is our very first free Joomla template. You can download Genesis for Joomla 1.6, but treat it as a beta as well for now. As you would expect from my description, when you install Genesis, there will be no modules present, don't be alarmed.
There were changes were in the templateDetails.xml file, where you use <field> tags now instead of <param> tags, and define your template as a 1.6 template instead of 1.5. We also added some new CSS styles for a few new classes in the article output and some new input IDs on fields. The main changes in the template's index.php file were module positions and their conditionals. There are a few changes in the tags to call Sitename and other variables.
